Do you feel like you are struggling to communicate with your middle schooler?

I get it. Middle schoolers are tough. All kids are tough, but middle schoolers are truly unique creatures.

Your sweet baby and cuddly elementary school kiddo has been replaced with a moody, sassy, dramatic version of his or her former self.

You might be struggling with challenges everywhere: home, school, at your work (because let's face it.....when you are a working mom home does impact work).

And to be truthful, you might be feeling overwhelmed because the problems are more "real." Social media. Friends. And one more emotional outburst from your hormonal teen could just simply push you over the edge. You've had enough and are looking for answers.

The good news: they don't stay middle schoolers forever! And, you CAN learn skills to help you CONNECT and COMMUNICATE with your growing child, while at the same time teaching skills that will help him or her make the transition into adulthood much easier.

Join me in Middle Ground and learn how to get REAL (Relate, Empathize, Affirm and Lead) with your child.

Middle School is hard.

Parenting a middle schooler is harder.

You don't have to settle for the drama-filled, overwhelm and frustration you're facing now.

You can CONNECT with your child.

I've been there. I taught middle school for years and was a middle school principal. And now, I live this every day as a mom to twin tween boys. But here's the thing....it can get better. You can learn skills to help you connect with your child in a way that supports developing needs.

I want to assure you that it WILL get better. It doesn't happen overnight, and it isn't easy.

But it will get better.

I've gone from beating myself up because I wasn't a good enough parent to feeling extremely confident that even though things aren't perfect most days, I have my kids headed toward a future where they will be equipped with skills to connect and lead others in their lives.

My mission is to help you transform how you communicate and connect with your middle school child too.

Can we just keep it REAL for a moment?

You can't avoid middle school drama.

It happens to all of us.

Twice.

We're lucky enough to go through it ourselves and then again as parents. Funny how that works.

When I taught middle school, I can't tell you how many times I had a parent say to me, "I just don't know what's happened to my child." Before I had kids of my own, I would just laugh and say, "If I had a quarter for every time a parent told me that, I'd be rich!" Now, as a mom to tween boys, I know just how they felt.

If you are living with tweens or teenagers, then I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there have been difficult days, weeks, and months for you and your family. Hormones have kicked in along with an attitude that most days makes your child difficult to be around. And most of the time, you're asking yourself where you went wrong. Your sweet baby and elementary school kiddo has been replaced with a sassy version of his or her former self.

Here's the deal. Nobody prepares us for what it's like to parent a teenager. We get tons of info when we are pregnant, have a new born, and enter the school years. But, it's as if once they get into school, we have it all figured out. For a while we do.

Then....it begins. The changes in their bodies, their back-talking, the moodiness. And nobody seems to have any answers.

And that’s ironic. Why?

Because as a parent, you know your child more than anyone and have the power to CONNECT with them in a way no other can.

You just have to be willing to do the work.

You CAN learn to confidently communicate with your child,
but that CONNECTION starts with changes in you.

My mission is to help you, and ultimately your entire family, understand WHY your middle schooler does the things she does and change the way you communicate allowing you to CONNECT with the ones you love.

  • We'll look at understanding WHAT is happening to your child's brain during this stage,
  • I’ll share with you communication principles and practices,
  • We’ll reflect on HOW you communicate, and…
  • You’ll realize how you can adjust what YOU do as a parent to support and meet the needs of your developing child.

That’s why I’ve created Middle Ground: to help you quickly get results and feel more connected with your child!

Middle school is hard.

Parenting a middle schooler is even harder.

Middle Ground will equip you with a new understanding of WHY your middle school child does the things he/she does and HOW to communicate and connect confidently with him/her.
